Insurance coverage protects you in this event, and gives you a way to protect your assets while fulfilling any legal obligations.

It's a good idea to have a lawyer who specializes in alternative medicine or at least has a good grasp of the subject. Your attorney can handle not only malpractice suits, but can advise you on many aspects of doing business. With good legal representation and the right insurance policy, you can focus on the important aspects of doing your job instead of all the legalities. Legal matters can be tricky and are best left to the professionals. After all, would a lawyer give acupuncture? Of course not. Therefore, an acupuncturist shouldn't try to be their own lawyer.

Acupuncture is usually a very safe practice that has been used for thousands of years. Most people don't even experience any discomfort during a session. If you receive the proper education and training, there is no reason why you should have any problems with your clients. However, unforseen things do happen and some people are simply looking for a reason to file suit. With insurance and legal representation, you will be protected just in case!
